Today I singlehandedly made James Brown spin in his grave

Right. True Story.

I was discussing some server-side aspects of designing web-pages with some guy. He evidently wanted to add and change a few things on one of his sites, and naturally I came up with a two-statement SQL-fix.

Unaffected by my wisdom, the guy really didn't seem to listen, so on the fly I paraphrased James Brown's Sex machine, in full caps, to get the point across.

GOTTA HAVE THE SQL
SUGAR YOUR BONE
GET IT TOGETHER
RIGHT ON, RIGHT ON

The guy still didn't seem to listen, but that is sort-of besides the point.

Not exactly a nationalist

Me, w00t

I love the internet. A wrong click here and all the money on your bank account may be gone. Ofcourse a right click can do that too. Today I plotted in some dates and clicked away a decent amount of cash.

The dates plotted were May 1st and May 25th. May is a special month in Norway. For one, you have workers day on May 1st, which for some odd reason still is considered an important day.

Second you have the official national day of Norway on May 17th. This is naturally such an important day that everyone goes on a frenzy, gets dead drunk on May 16th and in the end are unable to get up doing anything constructive May 17th.

BETAing around the bush

Me

Since I started in my new job, I've set up a new laptop with all the tools I need, and also tried to comply with company standards regarding software. Company being a rather noticeable Microsoft-partner, new software are to be tried and getting familiar with and I'm feeling pretty BETA right now.

Let's describe my current setup: Windows Vista RTM, Office 2007, Adobe Acrobat 7.0, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1 and Visual Studio 2005 SP1, not to mention Virtual PC 2007 RC.

If that means nothing to you, this may not be the article for you, but in any case let's break it down even further:

Anime fans worldwide: You are going to hell

This might be shocking news to you, I know. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but if we are to believe what the media tells us, these news just came in and I thought it was my humble duty to inform you.

Anyway... I'm sure it's not too late to change your ways, since this new hell-policy was quite recently initiated. So what the hell am I talking about? Let's turn to our somewhat evil looking pope for answers.

“Any trend to produce programs and products – including animated films ... which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behavior or the trivialization of human sexuality is a perversion"

God GOD damn!

Exactly the 15th of December 2006 Scifi-channel decided that Christmas isn't the time for quality-scifi and that taking a mid-season break in Battlestar Galactica was a great idea.

There's few things measuring up to the tremendeaous suck of mid-season breaks, except for maybe the increasing tendency of series having them. I'd personally like to issue a jihad on whoever even came up with the that idea in the first place.

However, last night, after rescheduling Battlestar Galactica from friday nights to sunday nights, Scifi-channel aired the first new episode since december and ZOMG MY FUCKING BBQ! and what not other handy internet slang I can basterdize while I'm at it. Seriously. God damn.

Creative crimefighting

When I got up this morning and checked in online, some Australian girl I know happened to present me some amusing news.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian police have had troubles getting concrete evidence that illegal brothels are indeed illegal brothels. Apparently none of the customers feels like testifying, so they have resorted to some creative solutions.

The solution? Paying private detectives to have sex with the prostitutes. Yes. You read that right.

It's a dirty job, but apparently someone got to do.

Boku to kanojo no XXX

Having been somewhat bored lately I started watching a new show I acquired long ago. In fact it's so long ago I can't remember when. As for why I got it, I have no idea. I guess someone told me to get it, and I can be very easy to persuade at times. That is however at the moment mostly irrelevant. I now have the show, and I have started watching it.

The show in question is japense mini-series called "Boku to kanajo no XXX" based directly on some anime with the same name. It's the most dubious, over the top clichéd shit I have seen in a good while. This thing has everything that defines tacky, including not at all subtle implied nudity.

Wow! And I'm not talking about the weird game.

This 3d modeling technology seems about as cool as it seems prone for abuse. Cool and scary at the same time.

I've been a lazy poster, so I just thought I'd share. For those interested, these mad scientists seem to have a site.

Trying out Ubuntu 6.10 Desktop

Around the time Ubuntu Linux had reached the early betas for release 6, people seemed all up in rave about it, so I thought I should give it a try. I left a 5GB partition on my laptop and tried to get it up and running. Long story short: A total failure, and 5GB wasted idle space on my laptop.

What happened back then was that automatic hardware detection failed miserably on my ATI adapter, and no amount of tweaking, despite finding certain workarounds that had worked for others on the net would get me a working Xorg or GUI for you people not really into *nix.

New year, new job and new neat toys

Since new-years I've gotten a new job as a senior consultant in a company named Crayon.

As it should be, I'll probably get some new challenges, get a little more hands-on work done and not to mention: a few new neat toys to play with.

My two newest toys are these: A Dell Latitude D820 laptop, and a HTC MTeoR Windows Mobile 5 cellphone.

The laptop itself is probably the neatest piece of PC hardware I've ever had the pleasure of "owning" myself. It has a Intel Curo2Duo 2GHz CPU, 2GBs of RAM and 1920x1200 display. This thing played a 1920x1080p 120fps clip (encoding-wise, not real fps), the "Otsuka Ai - Love is born"-concert, without a hitch. Pretty sweet.
