Let's get one thing straight: I'm pretty useless when it comes to buying clothes. I have no girlfriend which makes sure I look fashionable, and being the lazy guy that I am, I usually ask for clothes for my birthday and for christmas. While not optimal this usually makes sure I don't look like a total slob.
Buying clothes myself is one of the things I'm not particularly good at. But yesterday I was out and bought myself some clothes anyway! So... What happened? Let's sum it up.
I have a huge family, so for christmas there's a lot of presents to be bought. On last count I think it was around 12 or so, so christmas-shopping can get a bit tedious and tiresome, especially if you start late. Like I always do.
Thankfully my younger sister and I usually decide to share the burdon of buying gifts. She buys some, I buy the rest and these gifts are from the both of us. This works out pretty well, so today I only had to go out and buy five presents all together.
Now, granted, this is only five gifts, but going out and buying anything these days is sheer madness. After having walked around for two hours, around half the town and only gotten two gifts, also realizing the total sum will be noticeable, as usual, I made a decision: I might as well treat myself to something for going torugh all this.
So in between all the different shops I visited I actually went into intermediate shops and looked for stuff for myself as well. Somehow this turned out to be clothes, not single-malt Scottish whisky. Most unusual.
Doing this, I also realized that I haven't been shopping much clothes for myself in ages. Trying to find some decent jeans, I stumbled upon 2000 NOK jeans (that is around $300 for you yanks). Who the hell pays this much for basic, freakin jeans?
In the end I got myself 2 new jeans, 1 new belt and 1 new shirt. Totaled at around 1350 NOK. Plus a Tom Waits CD that I got pretty cheap.
It's been a long time since I've been shopping and if I'm lucky I won't have to go do it again anytime soon.
